Patient Rights at Manta Hospital Center:
- To receive adequate, high-quality, personalized, and timely medical care, based on kindness, responsibility, and respect.
- Patients have the right not to be discriminated against on the basis of sex, race, age, religion, or social and economic status.
- To receive complete, clear, and accurate information about your diagnosis, the proposed treatment, and your prognosis
- To receive the necessary information and knowledge to make an informed decision about their care and to give their consent to the start of any procedure and/or treatment.
- To have complete privacy regarding your personal life, diagnosis, treatment, and the results of any tests or procedures performed on you.
- Know the name of the attending physician responsible for your care and the specialties of all the healthcare professionals treating you.
- Having the option to freely choose or change your doctor and also get a second opinion.
- To actively participate in decisions regarding your care, including the right to consent to or refuse tests, examinations, medical procedures, research, or voluntary donation; in such cases, the hospital must inform you of the consequences of your decision.
- The patient has the right to designate an adult representative who is competent to make decisions regarding their medical care, including any treatments, tests, and procedures the doctor wishes to perform.
- Patients have the right to submit complaints, grievances, or suggestions regarding hospital services directly to hospital administration or to the Ministry of Public Health, and they are also entitled to receive a written response.
- In the event of an emergency, the hospital cannot deny medical care.
- Obtain a medical prescription from your treating physician or a healthcare professional designated by your physician, who must provide information regarding your healthcare needs following your discharge.
- Have a medical record that provides a written account of your entire medical history, including all tests performed and medical treatment received.
- To leave the hospital on one's own responsibility, as expressed in writing and confirmed by signature, even against medical advice.
- To receive religious, moral, or spiritual support during the course of care, or to decline such support.
Patient Responsibilities at Manta Hospital Center:
- Provide all requested information truthfully and clearly to supplement the necessary data, establish a diagnosis, and determine a course of treatment.
- Treat hospital staff and other patients with respect and consideration, and follow hospital policies.
- Follow the instructions of your treating physician, nursing staff, or other healthcare professionals regarding medication administration, restrictions on physical activity, and dietary intake, among other matters.
- Maintain the hospital facilities and follow the hospital's rules to keep them tidy.
- Ask your family members to adhere to and respect the visiting hours and the limit on the number of people who may be in your room at the same time.
- Sign the voluntary discharge form if you do not agree with the treatment methods.
- Sign, either directly or through a representative, the authorizations and consents that were previously agreed upon regarding the administration of treatment, the performance of a test, or a procedure.
- Please inform the nurse or the hospital’s general supervisor of any concerns, requests, complaints, shortcomings, or issues regarding the care you have received or are currently receiving.
- No smoking or drinking alcohol on hospital grounds.
- Do not bring children under 12 into inpatient areas.
- Neither patients nor visitors or family members are permitted to carry firearms.
- Entry to restricted areas of the hospital is prohibited.
- Do not eat any outside food brought by visitors or family members unless it has been approved by the nurse or your treating physician. You should only eat foods that are permitted based on your health condition.
